After a week of hearing ghostly noises, a man is visited in his home by the spirit of his mother, dead for three decades. She reproaches him for his dissolute life and begs him to have Masses said in her name. Then she lays her hand on his sleeve, leaving an indelible burn mark, and departs...
A Lutheran minister, no believer in Purgatory, is the puzzled recipient of repeated visitations from "demons" who come to him seeking prayer, consolation, and refuge in his little German church. But pity for the poor spirits overcomes the man's skepticism, and he marvels at what kind of departed souls could belong to Christ and yet suffer still...
Hungry Souls recounts these stories and many other trustworthy and Church-verified accounts of earthly visitations from the dead in Purgatory. Accompanying these accounts are images from the "Museum of Purgatory" in Rome, which contains relics of encounters with the Holy Souls, including evidence of handprints burned into clothing or books and burn marks that cannot be explained by natural means or duplicated by artificial ones.
This riveting account of the many apparitions of souls in Purgatory will demonstrate the importance of praying for the dead and repentance here on earth. You will read and re-read the stories of the realities of Purgatory and the souls who suffer there.
This book is meant for every Catholic; by reading Hungry Souls, you too will encounter the real stories of souls in need of your prayers and be encouraged to avoid even venial sins at all costs.

Hungry Souls
Excellent book. One of my favorites. In my journey as a protestant (this ended thanks to Most Holy Mother Mary, who brought me back), I used to believe all paranormal activity was diabolic. How wrong! This book is a jewel for me. I highly recommend to read it.

Captivating
I read this after I read a book specifically about the teaching of purgatory. It really helped drive home what I learned. I initially read the Biblical Basis for Purgatory by John Salza.

Wake up!
This book is amazing! My husband and I have shared the pics in it with our girls, friends and found youtube videos on the museum in Rome to pass the word. Why we didnt know about it? We didnt know how important it is for or Lord that we pray for the dead. That;s why we do in every Mass. God bless

Encourages prayers for the poor souls
Ive always loved learning and hearing stories about purgatory. From mystics and saints seeing purgatory and its levels to hearing stories of souls that are there and their warnings and prayers they need to get to heaven. This book will make you more aware of the souls that surround us and are longing for our prayers in the most simple ways. A sudden slammed door, a random creak in the stairs, an unexplainable phenomenon, I attribute to a soul trying to get my attention and I offer a prayer. This book is full of story after story that will leave you praying for the poor souls, praying for your loved ones, and motivation for us to live in a way that will help us get to heaven. I believe the more souls we help get out of purgatory the more saints we will have praying for us!!!

I learnt about some of the journeys of the souls in Purgatory and how our prayers really help them. Hungry Souls has deepened my call to help the poor souls. A must read.
