Enemies of Salvation
By Bishop George Hay · Published by TAN Books
Overview
“Since the religious revolution of the sixteenth century, to no man has the Catholic Church in Scotland been so much indebted as to Bishop Hay. He is pre-eminently her bishop of the last three hundred years.” These words of Archbishop John Strain testify to the enduring influence of Bishop George Hay, one of Scotland’s greatest Catholic shepherds during an era of persecution, confusion, and spiritual struggle.
Drawn from his larger work The Devout Christian, Enemies of Salvation examines the three chief adversaries of the soul: the flesh, the world, and the devil. With clarity, wisdom, and pastoral firmness, Bishop Hay exposes the tactics these enemies employ to lead souls away from God. More importantly, he provides practical guidance for resisting temptation, cultivating virtue, and persevering in the state of grace.
Concise yet penetrating, this spiritual classic serves as a field manual for the Christian life. Rooted in traditional Catholic ascetical theology, it remains as relevant today as when it was first written, helping readers recognize spiritual dangers and strengthen their resolve to attain eternal salvation.

Excellent Reading and Reference
Very in depth regarding the many enemies we face on a daily basis and how to be aware of them and vigilant about what we see, hear, do and who we spend time with. Very eye opening. Loaded with Bible passage references as well!

Great!!! Highly recommend.
This book is great! It’s a small book, maybe 68 or 69 pages. I read it in two days. I immediately recommended it to my friend and she’s enjoying it as well. It’s not that we don’t know some of these things but this book is an excellent reminder in a shortened form. It’s also amazing to see, again, how almost three hundred years ago the times look the same. You’d truly think he wrote those words for todays time. I highly recommend this book.

Bookshelf Essential!
It never ceases to amaze me how sentiment and advice from ages past reverberates through time and rings relevant in the present day. The same thoughts we entertain today are found within writings that are hundreds of years old (far more eloquently, of course). This would make an excellent selection for your local book club. The length of the chapters and the book itself are evenly paced and manageable even in a busy lifestyle. For a collection of works on the beauty of and desperate need for salvation, and the generosity of our most loving Savior, this would be an excellent start.
