Our Holy Faith Vol 5: Light of the World

    Published by TAN Books

    Overview

Give your child a solid foundation in the Faith with the acclaimed Our Holy Faith series of religion textbooks for grades 1–8. Long trusted by families seeking orthodox Catholic formation, these newly re-typeset TAN Books editions have been revised with modernized language, updates reflecting current Church practice, and expanded explanations of core doctrines. Each lesson is strengthened with quotations from Sacred Scripture, the saints, and the Catechism to anchor learning in the living tradition of the Church.

Catechesis must form both the intellect and the will. The Our Holy Faith series engages students spiritually through “For Me to Do” sections that encourage personal application and growth in virtue. Traditional prayers drawn from faithful Catholic sources are integrated throughout, helping children practice what they learn and cultivate habits of prayer.

Book 5, Light of the World, covers the second half of Baltimore Catechism One and introduces students to the foundational elements of Catholic belief and practice. Lessons explore the Apostles’ Creed, the Ten Commandments, the laws of the Church, the seven sacraments, sacramentals, and the life of prayer. Structured instruction, assessments, and supplemental materials provide a clear and confident path for growing understanding during these formative years.

Teaching my daughter from this book because her CCD class is missing the foundations of the faith. The book is set up with short lessons to keep kids attention.

      Beautiful images

The book has beautiful pictures and is overall well-written. However, there are archaic words that are used that possibly should be edited. A teacher's manual would also be useful in order to better explain concepts that might appear on the reviews at the end of the chapter but may have not been made clear in the chapter itself.

      Great

I am using this as a religion program for my 5th grader. We are in Catholic School House program, and I like that there is some overlap in curriculum. The program does such a good job explaining the concepts that my second grader enjoys listening to the lesson and answering questions. I like anything that I can teach to both ages!
