    The Story of a Soul

By Saint Thérèse of Lisieux · Published by TAN Books

    Overview

“If the little flower could talk, it seems to me it would say what God has done for it quite simply and without concealment… This flower, in telling her story, is happy to make known all the gifts Jesus has given her.”
    — St. Thérèse of Lisieux

The Story of a Soul is one of the most beloved spiritual autobiographies ever written. In it, Saint Thérèse of Lisieux reveals the hidden path to holiness that transformed her ordinary life into extraordinary sanctity. Written under obedience at the command of her superior, this work unveils the secret of her holiness: the “Little Way” of spiritual childhood. Rather than great external works, Thérèse teaches a path of total trust, humility, and love, offering every small action to God with confidence. She described it as her “elevator to Heaven,” a direct and accessible path for souls of every state and condition.

Though she died at only twenty-four years old, her wisdom surpasses that of many seasoned spiritual masters. Her insights are drawn from Scripture and lived experience, and her teaching was affirmed by Pope Pius XI as a sure path to holiness. Through her words, readers come to understand that sanctity is not reserved for the extraordinary, but is available to everyone through fidelity in the ordinary.

    • Discover the “Little Way”: Master the path of trust, humility, and spiritual childhood that made Thérèse a Doctor of the Church.
    • Transform the Ordinary: Learn how to offer every small daily task as a profound act of love for God.
    • Anchor Your Confidence: Gain a deeper reliance on God’s mercy and providence, regardless of your personal weaknesses.
    • Guidance from a Doctor: Be mentored by one of the Church’s most beloved saints whose wisdom has shaped millions of souls worldwide.
    • Universal Accessibility: Follow a timeless classic that proves holiness is achievable in any state of life or condition.

    Intended Audience

This book is ideal for all Catholics, especially those seeking a simple and accessible path to holiness. It is a favorite for young adults, those struggling with a sense of inadequacy in the spiritual life, and anyone wanting to grow in trust and humility.

This book definitely starts off slow but drop little subliminal pieces of gold to start off, but once it picks up and St. Therese enters the Carmel the book officially gets going with how it really is spiritual food. Highly recommend

      The Story of a Soul

From what I read to date, a lot of her writings remind me when I was a teenager growing up. Her love for Jesus is deep even when she was ill and having a hard time in the convent with her Superior. She didn;t consider these set back, and continued her love of Jesus. I am almost finished reading the Soul story. My best, Jim Wolan

This classic is one I read in for frequently. I got this copy plus a few extras for some teen girls I am working with and the price was perfect. I am so grateful for Tan book deals!
