The St. Alphonsus Liguori Deluxe Set

By St. Alphonsus Liguori · Published by TAN Books

    Overview

Saint Alphonsus Liguori (1696–1787) stands among the Church’s greatest pastors of souls, a missionary, founder, bishop, and Doctor of the Church whose life was spent calling sinners back to God and strengthening the weak in hope. For more than twenty-six years, he traveled throughout the rural regions of Italy preaching missions, bringing the Gospel to those most neglected. In 1732, he founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, the Redemptorists, to ensure this work would endure.

Alphonsus wrote not for the academic elite alone, but for ordinary souls struggling to live faithfully amid temptation, suffering, and fear. His spiritual works are marked by clarity, mercy, and moral precision, correcting error without crushing the penitent and offering consolation without watering down truth. Few saints have guided consciences with such balance, realism, and supernatural charity.

This deluxe five-volume set gathers some of his greatest works in beautiful clothbound editions with gold foil stamping. Together, they form a coherent path through the mysteries of Christ, the reality of death and judgment, devotion to Our Lady, and the centrality of the Holy Eucharist. These volumes are meant to be lived with slowly, returning to them again and again as trusted spiritual direction for a lifetime.

I have not purchased this series but will be

I have "waited" for a press company to print a good copy of glories of Mary. The paper back offered by tan currently is not very good the binding is cracked and broken. This new hard copy looks beautiful. I cannot wait to purchase this! I have gotten the catechism of the council of Trent from tan and that hard back is very good. So I imagine this one will be as well!

      Beautiful

I've been impressed with the improvements you've made in the quality of your books in recent years. I was very pleased with the edition of The Catechism Explained that you published recently. And this edition of the writings of St. Alphonsus has all of the virtues of that publication: attractive hardcovers, good quality paper, nice endpapers, ribbon markers, and most importantly, I think, sewn bindings. I hope you will continue to invest in producing books whose printing and binding are worthy of their contents. In fact, it would be very welcome if you were to revisit some of your older titles (like the Catechism of the Council of Trent) and bring them up to the standard you've set with more recent releases.
