Four Volumes of Marian Contemplation
The complete Mystical City of God unfolds across four volumes—The Conception, The Incarnation, The Transfixion, and The Coronation. Together, they form an immense devotional narrative encompassing Mary's life, her relationship with Christ, and her participation in the mysteries of Redemption.
More Than a Biography
These volumes are best approached as devotional and mystical literature rather than as a conventional historical biography. The accounts are drawn from Venerable Mary of Agreda's reported private revelations and invite readers into prayerful contemplation of the mysteries of Christ and His Blessed Mother. They do not replace Sacred Scripture or the authoritative teaching of the Church but can serve as a rich aid to meditation and Marian devotion.
From The Mystical City of God
“I am the Lady, the Mystical City of God, the Tower of David, and the House of Gold... and the Gates of Heaven.”
“Behold my heart, My delight and My glory, and in it behold thy salvation and thy refuge.”
Intended Audience
This complete set is ideal for Catholics devoted to Our Lady, readers of classical Catholic spirituality, seminarians, spiritual directors, and those seeking sustained contemplative reading on the mysteries of Christ and Mary. Best book after the bible
I bought this series in 1978. It is an old book, old bind, but the content is awesome. NO catholics, even priests, could understand who Mary is until you read these books. It is mystical and it shows how God saved mankind through Mary after Adam and Eve sinned. Without her there is no salvation. She is Divine, out of the touch of sin, and only through her immaculate conception was she able to bear and bring Jesus to us. She is the Co Redemptrix in every sense. I read this and the abridged version again and again. once you read these books, you will have a clear understanding who Mary is and your respect for her will be different, like Heaven and Earth. As an electronics engineer is used logic to test it again and again and only in these book and the Life of the Virgin Mary (Anne Cartherimne Emmerich) one can have a complete picture who Mary is. Highly recommended for logical Non Catholics too.

Best series of books I’ve ever read!
Listened to the Mystical City of God podcast first time around without the books. Enjoyed it but definitely felt like I wasn’t as engaged so decided to purchase the set while listening to the podcast for the 2nd time. Much more enjoyable experience and look forward to finishing all 4 books with Father Looney narrating.

The Mystical City of God
This should be required reading, only after the Bible, for every Catholic. A beautiful collection that not only adorns any bookshelf but can be read yearly. It reads better than any classic novel, every page is captivating and full of richness that makes the Bible even more vibrant. I look forward to reading a chapter everyday !

Mystical City of God
Have read these while on winter vacation in AL at St. Thomas by the Sea Church library and longed to have my own copies, which your sale made available. However, was somewhat disappointed in the smaller size.
