The Liber Christo Method: A Field Manual for Spiritual Combat
By Dan Schneider, PhD · Published by TAN Books
Overview
Spiritual combat is not a metaphor—it is a serious, real-world demand for every Catholic. The Liber Christo Method serves as a tactical field manual for this invisible war, offering practical, experience-based guidance to overcome the ancient enemy. Drawing on powerful war analogies informed by the author’s military background and his years of service on a world-renowned exorcism team, Dan Schneider outlines concrete steps to obtain lasting spiritual freedom. This is not a book of abstract theory; it is a disciplined program of renunciation, repentance, confession, and prayer designed to help the faithful stand firm against spiritual oppression and reclaim the territory of their souls for Christ.
- Tactical Deliverance: Move beyond vague spiritual concepts with a grounded, step-by-step Catholic approach to deliverance and spiritual protection.
- Combat-Proven Wisdom: Benefit from the unique perspective of a combat veteran who marries military precision with traditional Catholic theology and exorcism ministry experience.
- Understanding Authority: Learn the vital principles of spiritual authority—knowing exactly what you have the power to command and how to remain under the Church’s protective mantle.
- Practical Discernment: Develop the skills to recognize the subtle strategies of the enemy in contemporary life, helping you safeguard your home and family from evil influences.
- Personal Transformation: Use these disciplined tactics not just for defense, but as a roadmap for radical growth in holiness and interior peace.
The "Five Smooth Stones" of Spiritual Combat:
- Renunciation: Breaking the specific legal rights given to the enemy through past sin or occult involvement.
- Repentance: A deep, structural turning away from the darkness that fuels spiritual oppression.
- Confession: Utilizing the Sacrament as the ultimate weapon of healing and deliverance.
- Spiritual Authority: Understanding the hierarchy of protection within the family and the Church.
- Prayer Tactics: Specific, disciplined prayer methods for maintaining a state of spiritual freedom.
Intended Audience
This manual is essential for adult Catholics, clergy, and catechists concerned with the reality of spiritual warfare. It is a vital resource for fathers seeking to protect their families, individuals struggling with deep-seated spiritual habits or oppression, and anyone looking for a serious, Church-rooted guide to the ministry of deliverance.
FAQs
Is this book only for those dealing with extraordinary demonic activity?
No. While it is rooted in exorcism ministry experience, the tactics are designed for the "ordinary" spiritual combat every Christian faces—temptation, spiritual dryness, and the influence of a secular world.
Can a layperson safely use these methods?
Yes. Dr. Schneider places a heavy emphasis on "staying in your lane" and respecting spiritual authority, ensuring that laypeople use only the tools appropriate for their state in life.
How does this differ from other spiritual warfare books?
Most books focus on the "what" of spiritual warfare; this manual focuses on the "how," providing a rigorous, tactical methodology modeled after the Liber Christo training protocols used by priests and deacons.

The Liber Christo Method -- A Field Manual for Spiritual Combat
How often do you see the comments, Now this book needs to be in every Catholics Library. Not only should it be in our library but needs to be at our side. I'm not only impressed by the layout and content, but also the quality of the cover and pages. I'm a highlighter nut and I hate it when the highlighting bleeds through to the other side of the page. I have used a fresh marker on some of this and bleeding through is not an issue--kudos to TAN. So congratulations to Dr. Dan and is fellow Liber Christo companions! What a wonderful work. Even though I'm not quite done with it, I love it and I'm looking forward to the next one about Mary and her role in Spiritual Warfare.

The Antidote to Victim Culture
The regimented prayer protocol that is described in this book is prescribed to people and families at times. However, I highly doubt that most priests and counselors have an abundance of time in which to share hundreds of pages of pertinent information surrounding the protocol! That's where this book is going to be a great aid to pastoral care! This would be a good book to read along with your spouse, to keep everyone on the same page. It's a book full of tools, prayers, and good food for thought. I'm a homeschool Mom, and sometimes need to reflect on something a bit lighthearted at times during small reading windows/breaks that open up in my day. And so, as steak pairs well with a good wine, I found that this book paired well with the book "Cultivating Virtue" from TAN. In other words, I'd recommend reading both books simultaneously, as Cultivating Virtue offers something a bit lighter, but very relevant, that helped me to process content from this Liber Christo book, which I found heavier and denser. In other words, I could not sit and read this one day after day nonstop, that's how my mind works - but I found the Liber Christo book to be very rich. I'd also encourage people to take questions to their pastor who can help explain and guide readers further on areas where people may need further assistance with details. I do feel this book is a great antidote to the prevalent victim culture in our society. Instead of latching on to pain and abuses, let us give them to Christ so we can truly be free.

The Liber Christo Method
It's choc full of practical and tactical methods on how to kick Satan in the shorts and frustrate Lucifer's minions with a daily dose of DDT, (Devil Destroying Theology). Its written so even I, a malformed misfit can follow along and accomplish the mission. I bought two books and gave one to a priest. You should too.

The Liber Christo Method
This is a comprehensive Catholic spiritual warfare elucidation manual that both trains for a life style aiding the sanctification process as well as rooting out clinging entities that may be weighing down one's spiritual life. It crystalizes key points in Fr. Chad Ripperger's work, especially, "Dominion" and "Introduction to the Science of Mental Health". Its solid material, clearly presented and from a Thomas Aquinas philosophical and theological framework. You can't go wrong with Ripperger's work and won't need other works which will only enhance this core understanding and life style of living into the paschal mystery through the Immaculate Heart. The sections are hi lited so one can review topics, skip around, and there are diagrams elucidating themes laid out in the narrative. There is a great Examination of Conscience section where one can zero in on thigns that one may have overlooked and these can be taken to the sacrament of penance and discharged. The Appendix is rich in material. I suppose whats magnificant for me, having studied several Protestant approaches to spiritual warfare in my search for something like this, is how grateful I am for the rich historical catholicity of this great work by Dan. Its long over due and should be next to the bible and catechism in every homw and studied.
