      "My Name if Philomena"

Posted by A beautiful book and a beautiful saint on Jul 6th 2023

Fr. Peregrine has written and illustrated an absolutely stunning book about a little-known but inspirational saint who was discovered only recently. His illustrations are especially stunning and meaningful to me and my family, as they are reminiscent of the Silverado Canyon location of St. Michael's Abbey, where Fr. Peregrine lives and works. This book, wonderful for both children and adults, promises to become a family keepsake.

A lovely, inspiring and edifying book for children

I was delighted to read "My name is Philomena: A Saint's Story". The bright colorful and sweet images will get any child's attention. The text is short and rhyming, easy and fun to read, and the story told by the Saint is simple and beautiful. Her story has been forgotten for centuries since it happened in ancient Rome. Through her exemplary life she teaches a strong faith, strong morals, and strong character making right decisions In spite of the fact that public opinion was not in her favor. She was willing to give up her life because of her great love for Christ and her strong confidence that He will protect her against all evil. The book has a high quality colorful hardcover and the size is perfect for children to enjoy the images and to read. A lovely, inspiring and edifying book for children.

      My Name is Philomena book

As a longtime devotee of St. Philomena who IS powerful with God - she cured my son of a major spinal cord injury - I have so wanted to be able to buy or write a children's story about her. So much has been written about St. Philomena for adults, but how to reach the heart and mind of a child? This is the perfect book for the child in need of a Princess Saint, a hero Saint, a Saint they can strive to imitate and to whom they can pray without worry, for she is one of them and she is the Patroness of all their needs. This is a most charmingly illustrated and accurately told story to capture the heart and imagination of any child, and any adult. Thank you, Fr. Peregrine.

Knowing Philomena's story, I was curious how this would make a children's book, but - this is a masterpiece! Seriously, I love this book. My children could not wait to read it when our package arrived, and immediately sat down together on the couch to get started. They enjoyed the book very much! I have been deeply moved by this narrative & most especially by the picture of Jesus & Philomena during their suffering - it is truly powerful. I was blown away that the author is also the illustrator - bravo to Fr. Peregrine Fletcher! As an adult, I will be taking this book with me for personal prayer time. It is truly a treasure, there is so much richness, and beauty, and depth in the poetry, providing much to reflect upon. LOVE the nautical theme and anchors - (and can please buy her dress somewhere?) Don't hesitate buying this one!!

My Name is Philomena is a long awaited "Children's" book on the life of St. Philomena, Virgin Martyr, whose life ended at the age of 13. It is beautifully illustrated and well written according to the historical story of her life. It should be in every home library where children can read it often. A helpful story to instill the love of God in all children, who need to have him in their thoughts.”

Colleen Carroll Campbell (Award-winning author of The Heart of Perfection, My Sisters the Saints, and The New Faithful)

“In this beautifully illustrated, poetic retelling of a lesser-known martyr’s life, Fr. Peregrine Fletcher gives today’s children a compelling model of the very virtues they’ll need to be tomorrow’s saints: courage, purity, and rock-solid faith. Read My Name Is Philomena to your own little ones and pray that God will make them a light in the darkness of their age, just as Philomena was in hers.”
