Think you really know Church History? Think Again.

The Catholic Church is the longest-standing and the most universal of all institutions. The contributions made by Catholic men and women over the past 2000 years are most impressive, from a properly functioning calendar to the inventions of many things that we all take for granted today.

From economic and mercantile developments to scientific and astronomical advances, from the cataloging of zoological and botanical species to the cherishing of beautiful music and fine arts, this book shows you why the Catholic Church stands as the greatest promoter of human culture and knowledge.

If you have children who into facts, stats, in history, this is the book for them. One caveat is one of the facts deals with a mistress of the pope and probably could have been considered outside of the top 101 facts of church history.

This is a must have book for teen boys. I teach confirmation and give it to my students and they enjoy the fact of our church history from a reliable source. The media nowadays, they don’t trust them. They don’t know if the content is true. And resources come from teacher that they trust are well received. it is wonderful for TAN to make it so affordable for me to give out. Thank you for your great work.

Book is interesting. Kind of disappointed to find a "CE" used in the place of "AD" in a photo caption - only once so far but I'm only in the forties.

101 Surprising Facts about Church History

Posted by Doug B. on May 24th 2023

As a Jew growing up in a Catholic neighborhood and graduating from a Jesuit University I have always had an interest in the church, had many interesting "conversations" with priests and friends and found this book gave me some answers, some new questions and a little ammunition for future discussions. It is an easy and quick read and I recommend it for the curious.

Lovely, magazine-sized book filled with sumptuous art and brief vignettes from Church history. It is not a textbook or a narrative but a series of informative snapshots, so enjoy the book for what it is.
